The Appreciation Game

I love to appreciate, because when I’m appreciating the whole word seems to glow a little brighter. And I feel on top of the world.

Appreciation not only feels good when you do it, it’s also a wonderful tool for connecting to what I call the “Soul Self” — that broader aspect of the physical you who is a card carrying member of the Stream Of All That Is.

When you’re appreciating, you’re literally flowing energy out into the world which, through Law of Attraction, flows back to you. (That’s why it feels so awesome!)

I start every day by mentally appreciating the people and things in my life: family members, friends, colleagues, even the ones I call “rascals” who show up from time to time to teach us something we need to learn.

I can get broad and specific with my appreciation — from basking in the perfection of the planet, to reveling in the beauty of the ornate wooden candle sticks that sit on the mantle of my fireplace. I do this throughout my day, finding person, situation and thing after thing to adore.

My passion for appreciating lead to the development of what I call The Appreciation Game.

The Appreciation Game was born one night at dinner with friends. I was in such a deep state of loving that as I looked around the table at their beautiful faces it was as though I was seeing through them… and was suddenly beholding the majestic beings they truly were. In one instant, I could see the Best Part of Them, their Highest Selves, their Untapped Potential, their True Essence — and I was overcome with emotion. I just sat there, silently basking in the vision.

This got me thinking. What if I could get everyone at the table to tune into such a vision? What if I could nudge people to tap into that feeling of appreciation the next time we all got together? Would they feel that same powerful shift that I experienced?

A few weeks later, a large group of us were out to dinner again, and that’s when I suggested we all go around the table and say one thing that we appreciated about each other. Just one thing. Well, an hour later, people were in tears and the table was literally vibrating from all the energy that was exploding around it. To say it was a moving, fulfilling experience would be an understatement.

I regularly use the Appreciation Game (as I lovingly named it) when I’m with groups of people, and I bask in the energy shift that accompanies the game every time.

It’s like playing the spiritual version of Monopoly — only, it’s a win-win for everyone every single time!

So, now it’s your turn to play the game: jot down a few things that you’re appreciating right this very minute in the comment section below, just flow the energy right here and right now. Really pay attention to the way you’re feeling as you do. It’s amazing.
